I am interested in Statistical Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. The particular beauty of this field is that it is a common connection to many different scientific disciplines. My particular goal is to advance this field and build synergies between research areas that can benefit from each other's methods.
Currently, I am working for NASA's Kepler Mission at NASA Ames Research Center and the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California. The objective of the Kepler Mission is to find earth-like planets around distant stars in our galaxy.
I am also the developer of AnTracks, a computer vision software for automated video tracking and analysis. It is specifically designed to detect camouflaged animals and is used by various research groups in several countries for their studies of animal behavior.
The focus of my previous research has been in theoretical and computational biophysics, where I investigated the molecular basis for urea-induced protein denaturation1, and worked on the design of chaperonin-mutants with improved folding functionality2.
